To get rid of fleas on puppies 12 weeks old or younger, you’ll need to treat them a bit different than you would a dog, or puppy over 12 weeks of age. A puppy 12 weeks old or younger will still need to be treated for fleas if they have them, you’ll just need to take a little bit more time.
When you find fleas on your puppy, there is cause to worry! When a puppy has fleas, they can become anemic and lethargic. This means that your puppy will lose interest in eating and drinking. They won’t be as playful and active as a puppy usually is. The anemia is caused because the fleas that are on your puppy, eat 15x’s their body weight. They bite and eat the blood from your puppies circulating blood flow causing the puppy to become anemic.
Signs That Your Puppy is Becoming Anemic or Lethargic
- Loss of Appetite Including Not Drinking
- Excessive sleeping
- No Desire to Play
- Rapid Heartbeat
- Shortness of Breath
There is a safe way to get rid of the fleas on your puppy, that doesn’t involve the harsher chemicals that an adult dog can use.
Follow the steps below to safely get rid of fleas on your puppy:
1. Fill a bathtub or sink, depending on the size of your puppy, with warm water. Be careful that the water isn’t to hot, or cold, your puppy will be in the water for at least 15 minutes.
You want to make sure that your puppies entire body can be under the water and only his head will be sticking out.
Don’t panic if your puppies fur has a very red tint when you add the water. When the flea eats, it’s eating the blood from your pet. The fleas excretion is black in color but it’s blood. When you add water to your puppies coat, the black droppings turn red because they are actually blood.
2. Use a flea shampoo with oatmeal, that is safe for puppies. The oatmeal will help soothe the puppies skin, especially if he/she has any irritated areas from the fleas.
Squeeze a good amount of the shampoo, starting from the back of your puppies ears, going all the way down the spine and coating the tail.
Next you need to rub the shampoo into your puppies skin, making a very good lather. Be sure to get every part of your puppies body, the belly, legs and under the neck. Using your fingers massage the shampoo into the skin very well. Remember that this is literally smothering the fleas to death because they can’t get out of the shampoos lather.
You may see fleas up around your puppies face. Use your hand and gently rub your puppies face from the the tip of the nose back, pushing the fleas back toward the water. They will drown.
Now you can rinse the shampoo from your puppy, being sure to push any fleas trying to get away back into the water! Continue pouring water over your puppy, even over his/her face.
Keep rinsing with the water, even after the shampoo is gone, for about 10 minutes. You are drowning the fleas as you do this, when you drain the water you will see all the dead fleas in the bottom.
3. Now you can take your puppy out of the water. Use a towel and dry him/her very well with the towel. You don’t want your puppy getting a chill! You could blow dry him/her as well, if they’ll let you.
After drying with the towel, you’ll want a flea comb to get the rest of the fleas and flea droppings off your puppy. If using a blow dryer, comb through while drying your puppy.
Be sure to rinse the comb after each comb, just like you would do for lice. You don’t want to keep combing the flea and flea debris back into your pups coat.
4. Now that your puppy is all clean and feeling much better, you will need to apply a flea powder, that’s safe for puppies under 12 weeks of age. Follow the directions on the package.
5. You can use a flea collar on a puppy. This is actually a good idea, as you saw while bathing your puppy, the fleas go toward the head of their host, your puppy. Again make sure the collar is safe for a puppy 12 weeks or younger.
Your Puppy is Definitely Feeling Much Better!
You have done a great job. You should treat your home inside and your home outside, if you are experiencing the fleas during warm weather. The fleas came from somewhere and you need to make sure that the fleas stay away. I have step by step easy to follow instructions to help you do it!
When your puppy is over 12 weeks of age, you may want to consider a topical monthly flea treatment, that will help them stay flea free and healthy.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave a message below. We’d love to hear from you 🙂

um…my dog gave birth to 9 pups they are 1-2 weeks old can I do this with them?
~Lykwhat
Hello puppiewuver. if your puppies are that young I would definitely call your veterinarian to before putting a flea collar or any topical med on them or the mother. I am almost positive that you shouldn’t have a flea collar on any puppy under 6 weeks of age. You would be more than safe to use a puppy flea shampoo, just following the steps washing them and allowing the puppies to have their bodies submerged in warm water, this will drown many fleas. However if the mother is not treated along with the areas that the puppies are kept it’s not going to work well enough to keep your puppies and their momma flea free. I personally use Wondercide and have had excellent results with it. It’s all natural and safe for puppies. Again call your vet, even if you don’t have one, call a local vet office and ask them for advice. Most vet offices are more than happy to give you safe information without having to bring in your pets and pay a fortune!
Whatever you do decide to use, make sure that you have one area that the puppies and their mom are kept that you’re able to treat easily and vacuum daily so that you can ensure the best flea free environment for them until you can treat them with a topical flea med safe for puppies 6 weeks or older.
Let me know how everything works for you and if you need any other ?’s answered 🙂 Best of luck with your puppies!!!
I have questions regarding wondercide. I have an 8 week old English Bulldog that only has very little fleas, however he has bumps that I’m assuming are from bites. I’m scared to treat him but have treated my home as well as my other animals. The home treatment was not as successful as I hoped. I took him to the vet that didn’t give me any good advice. I just want him to be comfortable and flea free. I live in 100+ degree weather in the summer and fleas are not common here. Is wondercide guaranteed to be safe for 8 week old puppies? I seen it on Amazon and am prepared to purchase it. I hope you will reply very soon. Thank you in advance.
From a very concerned, first time English Bulldog owner.
Shelbi
Hi Shelbi, yes, Wondercide is safe for puppies and kittens. It is recommended that you use a small amount on a single area of their skin, (the butt is a great choice), and leave it on for 24 hours before completely treating him to make sure he’s not sensitive to it, my pets have never had any reaction.
Being that this is all natural and doesn’t contain harsh chemicals like other flea and tick meds your pup should be just fine. I’ve used it for my animals flea protection for a few years now and have never had any problems at all. The ingredients actually improved the skin and coats of my pets because of the natural oils in them.
You can also use the flea and tick spray for your puppy all around your home, the labels for the outdoor and indoor products will show you the same ingredients they are just labeled differently for legal purposes. The bumps on his skin are allergic reactions to the fleas and is pretty normal, the wondercide will help them heal and get him feeling better.
If you have any other questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

I have an 11 week old pitbull puppy. We just moved from nj to florida. He is infested with fleas. So bad. He’s had 3 flea baths in 4 days he’s wearing a flea collar we’ve washed bedding and sprayed everything in the house. They won’t go away. He’s not eating drinking and now he doesn’t want to walk. What else can we do? 🙁
Hello Karina, I’m so sorry your puppy is going through this. When you gave him his bath did you have him totally submerged in the water? This will drown the adult fleas. If you have his entire body submerged in the water with only his head above the water the fleas will go straight up to his head. When they do just take your hand and push them back down into the water so they drown. You should keep him in the water for at least 15 minutes to assure you are killing all of them that are alive on him. I wouldn’t use anymore flea shampoo if it works then he’s already got the chemicals from it on his skin.
You can go right to your local pet store or grocery store and get hartz flea medicine this is not expensive at all and works very well. He’ll be fine at 11 weeks to use this and you will see a big difference in just a day. Put your puppy in the water like I said above before treating him with the flea treatment, this way your killing as many adult fleas as possible before treating him.
After you have him treated with a topical flea med., I highly recommend Wondercide to spray everything in your home with it. It’s all natural and very safe for you and your pets and it works extremely well quickly! You have to order this online but it’s well worth it, it will kill all of the flea stages that are in your home. Even if you have children this is safe. Spray your entire home, your puppy and your puppies bedding with this as well. Rub this right into his coat and honestly your going to see a huge difference almost immediately.
If your puppy continues to not eat or drink anything you really need to get him to a vet asap! He is showing signs of dehydration and this will kill your puppy! The vet could get him the medical attention he needs to fight the fleas by simply re-hydrating him with an IV line.
Continue using the wondercide weekly on your puppy and your home along with the monthly flea treatment for your puppy to keep all the fleas away from him.
I really as sorry you and your puppy are going through this I know from experience that this is extremely overwhelming for both of you!! Please let me know how your puppy does!! Let me know if I can help you with anything else!!
Best Wishes, Kimberly 🙂
I hope everything went ok with your puppy I wish I would have seen this sooner. But there are pills now for puppies 8 weeks or older. The sand fleas are the worst you can also use sevin granules for your yard walmart carries it. Hope everything went ok and this helps someone
Thank you for your help Theresa! What are the pills for the puppies that you’re referring to? I’m sure others would find this helpful information as well.
I always welcome others solutions to flea problems and product recommendations as well.
Thank you, Kimberly 🙂
Hi
We have had fleas for about a month now. We have 3 huskeys that most of the time stay outside. They are 8 and older, they are treated as directed. My question is this, we just got a 9 week old and thought we got rid of the fleas. We have bathed her in dawn dish soap and have washed anything she has come to contact with. I dont know what we can do to get rid of these fleas in this house, we have not seen any in awhile and then my husband has gotten bitten twice. ( we have not seen any on the puppy) so I need help..she is almost at the age where we can treat her so we will be, but what can we do to get rid of these things in the house??
Hi Jen, with the dogs outside most of the time you should treat the outside of your yard where the pups spend most of their time. You can learn more about this if you read my page about Outside Flea Removal.
For your puppy you can safely use Wondercide on her along with your older dogs even if they have a monthly treatment that you use on them. This is an all natural product that works exceptionally well to kill the fleas and protect your pups against anymore fleas. I have also used the wondercide that I spray on my pets throughout my home to protect against anymore fleas. It doesn’t stain and smells pretty good, not to mention will leave your pets coats really soft and shiny.
I hope this helps you, I know it can be very frustrating dealing with multiple pets and fleas.
Merry Christmas,
Kimberly
I have a 7 week old puppy she is Jack Russel/ Toy Chihuahua mix, She has fleas all over her, we have flea medicine that’s supposed to go down her spine but we can’t use it until she’s 12 weeks old, she has ALOT of fleas, and we don’t know what to do, help us?
Hello Kristina, I would recommend Wondercide This is an all natural product and doesn’t contain chemicals that could severely hurt your puppy. I would also recommend that you take your puppy to the vet asap so that you can check and make sure that your puppy isn’t dehydrated from all the fleas.
Bathing your puppy and drowning the fleas is an excellent well to get the fleas off of your puppy as well. Follow these steps, getting rid of puppy fleas.
Wish you the best of luck with your puppy! Let me know how she’s doing 🙂
Hi I have a pure breed maltese 12 weeks and have prob with fleas I use sampoo and collar nth helps she scrating a lot and not happy had her at vet the sprayed with comfort bt didn’t help they nt dead what else is best to do home remedies
Hello Rina, I would highly recommend Wondercide, this is an all natural product that not only will kill the fleas on contact but will soothe your puppies skin immediately to help with the discomfort on his skin. If you use this regularly for flea protection on your puppy your home and pet will be rid of fleas permanently! You just spray it on the coat and brush or comb right to the skin. This can also be used to spray furniture, and pet bedding to kill adult fleas and all of the flea cycles that are most definitely in your home. You can follow the steps on the Home Flea Removal page as well to get the flea problem out of your home.
Best of luck to you!!! Kimberly 🙂
Hi there I recently rehomed a tea cup maltipoo and she is 9 weeks but ways less then a pound I was so upset because she is filled with red leaves I literally took out 40 full grown fleas and since then I’ve been combingn her out with a flea brush .. But I’m having so much trouble with the eggs they left behind she is infested .. I’m going insane … I don’t want them to hatch but I do believe I got all the adult red fleas out .. What can I possibly do ? I bathed her today i want to know if I can bathe her atleast every other day? I just want to get rid of the eggs please help
Hello Araceli, I’m sorry to hear about this, I know how stressful this can be for you and your pup. I would be bathing her everyday if those eggs are all through out her. You don’t have to use flea shampoo every day and for her size I wouldn’t use it more than every 7 days. Follow step 1 on my page for Getting Rid of Fleas on Puppies. You can do this a couple times a day because the eggs will definitely hatch and you want to kill them before they have a chance to lay more eggs.
Your home will also have to be treated for fleas and all of the life stages of the flea to completely remove them from your pups environment. You can follow the steps on Home Flea Removal .
Watch your puppy for signs of dehydration, if she isn’t eating or drinking get her to the vet immediately! With her size and age the fleas can kill her in a very short time!
You may also want to purchase Wondercide for her and your home. This works extremely well and is an all natural product that is safe for puppies and kittens, it will kill the fleas and eggs on contact and can be sprayed directly on your puppy and anyplace that she spends her time. This includes furniture, blankets, wood floors, carpets, etc. This is much safer than using any harsh chemicals on her since she is so small and will show immediate results for you!
Best of luck to you and your new puppy!! Please let us know how she does 🙂
Best Wishes, Kimberly 🙂

Dawn dish washing soap, or other biodegradable Dish washing soap, can also be used for drowning the fleas in a bath, just remember that fleas can revive themselves from the drowning if not left under water for at least 24 hours. (add flea shampoo to the water AFTER Your puppy is done, dry and safe, or flush the bath water & fleas).
My dog had surprise puppies on the 4th of July and now two weeks later are flea ridden. I tried flea combing them and giving the mother a bath but nothing seems to be working and I don’t know what’s safe for them at this age.
Hello Catherine, I would highly recommend Wondercide. This is an all natural product with absolutely no chemicals and is safe for all dogs, puppies and cats, of any age. You can find it here: Wondercide This will kill the fleas immediately and will not cause any problems with the Momma dog while she nurses her pups. This is safe to spray anywhere she is with her pups and can be sprayed directly on the puppies to kill the fleas before they can cause any damage to the them.
I would definitely treat your entire home with this as well so that the problem gets taken care of before you have a complete infestation.
Please let us know if we can help you in any other way and best of luck to you and your pups!!! Would love to know how they do 🙂
Take Care, Kimberly
Thank you so much for this website. I treat my dogs with Comfortis and I got a very small puppy who does not weigh enough to take the pills so the 15 minute bath really worked. Also I’m now using the mint water all over my home and dogs. Thank you soooo much
Thank you so much for letting us know Rolene!!! Now others will know as well that such a simple natural process can really make a difference!!
Take Care, Kimberly 🙂
Hello there!!! I just got a pomchi 6 weeks old last night. My husband said he saw a flea on him. What can I do so we don’t get fleas in our home and to get them off my puppy? I also have a 5 year old daughter so need safe products. Thank you!!
Hello Kritstin, I would highly recommend Wondercide This is an all natural product and safe for use around children and all pets of any age! Just spray right on your puppies coat and brush it to your puppies skin. This can be sprayed directly on your furniture and anywhere you see any fleas.
Enjoy your new puppy!!! 🙂
Kimberly
Hello I I just got 6wks old puppy what can I used to get rid of fleas
Hello Tyrone, for a puppy you should first give him/her a bath to drown as many of the fleas as you can and to soothe your puppies skin. You can use a flea shampoo for puppies, you can find it here: puppy flea shampoo. Using one with oatmeal helps soothe your puppies skin along with killing the fleas. For killing and preventative flea control you can use Wondercide. This is all natural with no chemicals and is safe for pets of all ages. Your puppy can lick his/her skin and it will not make them sick. This can be sprayed directly on your puppies skin and it will kill the fleas instantly and keep new ones from hatching. Wondercide can be sprayed on furniture, carpets, anywhere in your home without staining or ruining anything. After the fleas are gone from your puppy you can use this monthly to prevent any more flea outbreaks. This product will also keep your puppies skin and coat very healthy!
Wishing you the best of luck with your new puppy!!!
Kimberly 🙂
Dawn dishwashing liquid will kill the fleas on contact! Smells great too. Safe for young pups. We used it on our 7 wk old Jack Russell, Huck! Works great!! I follow up with an oatmeal shampoo so his skin won’t be dry. Try it. Cheap too!
Thank you very much for sharing Mammy!! I hope that this will help others with their flea ridden puppies and kittens 🙂
Have a Wonderful Day! 🙂
Kimberly
My dog gave birth to five puppies going on Five weeks ago. We just started to take them outside. I have not seen fleas but I was wondering if I could go ahead and give the mother her monthly flea treatment. The puppies are in the process of being weaned but are not completely. During her pregnancy I stopped her treatment. I have noticed a puppy scratch here and there but again I haven’t seen anything should I treat them as well or just the mom and wait.
Hello Ruth, I personally wouldn’t put the topical medications on the mom because of the chemicals in them. I highly recommenced using Wondercide This is a chemical free product that will not only be safe for the puppies and their mom to use but will make their fur exceptionally soft and healthy while killing fleas, ticks and mosquitoes naturally. After using this on your pets monthly you will not have to use the chemical flea products.
Best of luck with your litter of puppies 🙂
Kimberly
Thank you for your advice. I just got a new Pomeranian puppy that is only 8 weeks old, and was assured by the breeder he was free of fleas. After the 2nd day of him scratching at his cheeks, I checked it out. I was so upset that the breeder hadn’t even given him the proper trestment to prevent such an invasive type of creature. So I googled and found your method. It worked perfectly and my puppy is happier for it. I’m going out today to get his flea collar, because they do seem to stay around his cheeks and forehead. Again, thank you.
You’re very welcome Mary!! It is awful when puppies and kittens have to deal with fleas so young. Best of luck with your new puppy and thank you for sharing your experience with everyone!!!
Kimberly 🙂
I have a 5 week old puppy my brother wants,me,to get rid of her because she has fleas I have given her a dawn bath like every night and I used a comb to brush her fur idk what to do I don’t wanna have to get rid of my puppy please help me
Hello Steve, You need to get something a little more effective and I highly recommend Wondercide. This an all natural product that is very safe for your puppy. All you need to do is spray directly on your puppy and comb it right down to the skin of your puppy. The fleas will start dying immediately and it will keep new ones from hatching starting the flea life cycle all over again.
After you’ve treated your puppy you’ll need to spray the Wondercide everywhere that your puppy has been! This product will not stain or ruin your furniture, carpets or flooring. It smells good, lemon scent and fresh cedar and there are absolutely no chemical smells to bother you or your brother. Make sure that you vacuum thoroughly, all carpets, flooring and furniture. If your puppy has a bed make sure to wash that along with your own if your puppy sleeps with you. You can mop the floors with the Wondercide as well being sure to kill all of them.
After your puppy is treated you can continue spraying this on him daily until there is no sign of anymore fleas. Then use it as a monthly treatment by simply spraying on your puppy and combing down to the skin. It will repel fleas, ticks along with other pests like mosquitoes on your puppy!
Best of luck with your new puppy!!! 🙂
Kimberly
I’m not sure my puppy got flea or not but she keep bite herself and her body got some dark brown color thg. I try to use wet tissue to remove but can’t.
Can help , she is my 1st puppy and I hv no knowledge to growing a puppy, truly newbie here :'(
Hello Vian, your puppy most likely does have fleas and the dark brown stuff is most likely flea droppings on your puppy, which is actually blood that the flea eats and then passes. You can use Wondercide for your puppy flea problem. This is an all natural product that is safe for them because there aren’t any harsh chemicals to harm them when they’re younger. All you need to do is spray directly on your puppy and comb or brush it right down to the skin. This will start killing the fleas immediately!
Next you’ll need to spray the Wondercide every place that your puppy goes. This includes furniture, bedding, carpets, etc.. If you have tiled or wood floors you’ll need to use the Wondercide to mop them. Any bedding and blankets that your puppy goes on needs to be washed in hot water.
After you do all of this be sure to vacuum your home very well, including furniture to get dead fleas up and out of your carpet! You can follow these directions for Home Flea Removal the only difference is that you will only be using the Wondercide in the steps so that your puppy is safe from chemicals.
Best of luck with your new puppy!! 🙂 Please let me know if I can help you any further.
Kimberly
My puppy has little white looking fleas all over it. He is 5 weeks old almost 6 and he is plum miserable. He is constantly crying and screaming. I have tried to do what you said about the bath 3 times and it doesn’t work. I’m not even sure these are fleas. But they are white and look like them.
Hello Mercedes, it sounds like your seeing the flea eggs and if they are all over your puppy then he is definitely infested. You can use Wondercide on your puppy. You can purchase Wondercide here. This is an all natural product and is safe for pets of all ages along with you and your family.
You’ll need to spray this directly on your puppy and brush completely down to the skin. Spray it directly on your hands and then rub in around his face. You will see the fleas dying immediately! This product will also soothe your puppies skin and help relieve the irritation he is having due to the fleas. Continue using this on him daily until the signs of the fleas are gone. After a few days I’d recommend giving him another bath to get all of the flea dirt and dead eggs and fleas off of him. Then just respray the Wondercide on him after his coat is dry.
You will also need to treat your home for fleas otherwise your efforts with your puppy will be pointless. If the fleas aren’t removed from the home, they will just keep reproducing and causing irritation to your puppy.
You can use the wondercide on your furniture, carpets and all types of flooring and bedding without the worry of staining or heavy chemicals in your home. This product is truly amazing!
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

My dog got fleas last week we tryed bathing him yesterday will that get rid of the fleas for sure or will they come back? Can I still touch him? Can he sleep with me? How do I know when the fleas are gone for sure, thanks Chanel
Hello Chanel, just bathing your dog will not be enough to get rid of the fleas. I would recommend Wondercide as a treatment along with using it monthly on your dog as a preventative measure against fleas. This is an all natural product that works immediately to get rid of the fleas and to keep them off your dog. All you need to do is spray directly on your dog and comb or brush it right down to the skin. It not only kills the flea and all of it’s stages, it will condition your dogs skin which is most likely irritated from the fleas.
Yes, you can still touch your dog and play with him and yes he can still sleep with you. When you get the Wondercide you can spray this directly on furniture, bedding, carpets and mop your floors with it. This won’t stain and like I said previously this is an all natural product that is safe from harmful toxins. It smells really good as well! You should also follow these steps for Home Flea Removal because if your dog has fleas and has for over a week they are definitely throughout your home as well. Just follow the steps using the Wondercide and you will be flea free very quickly!
Check your dogs coat and skin daily for fleas. Look for black dirt, (these are flea droppings), and any white specks the size of a salt granual, (these are the flea eggs), along with the actual adult flea. You can learn more about the flea life cycle here. If you see any of these on your dog, just spray with the Wondercide again and comb right to the skin. You will also notice if your dog is continually itching and biting himself that he still has the fleas. Just continue treating with the Wondercide until all signs of irritation are gone. Remember that the Wondercide is all natural and chemical free so it’s safe to use everyday on your dog without having to worry about overwhelming him with chemicals and toxins.
Best of luck and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

If my dog has fleas and he comes to me and sits by or on me should I be worried he can transfere them to me? I feel horrible leaving him out. Thanks, Chanel
Thankyou for the useful information, we treated him earlier today with some flea spot on. how long should it take for them to go. He is really sad, upset and in-energetic. I keep finding them all over him poor thing, many thanks Chanel
Hello Chanel, Yes, the fleas will be on you and everywhere he goes. You can learn more about the fleas and how they travel and reproduce here: The Best Way to Kill Fleas You can treat the inside of your home and your dog can be inside with you. I do highly recommend the Wondercide though, even if he has already been treated with a topical flea medication. You can spray it directly on your dog and throughout your home like I told you before. Even if your dog is treated with the topical medication the fleas are definitely throughout your home and they will use you as their host to feed. The topical spot on treatment should begin working within 24 hours and can take up to a week to see any huge improvement on your dog, where as the Wondercide will work immediately to resolve the flea problem in your home and on your dog.
Best of luck to you and please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!! 🙂

My puppies are five days old and i’ve seen some ticks on them what can i do to get them off
Hello Dionna, You can use Wondercide on puppies this young. Just spray directly on the tick and it will kill the ticks allowing you to safely remove it from your puppies skin. You can also spray it on them and rub down to the skin as a preventative measure against fleas and ticks on your puppies and their Mom.
Good luck with your puppies and please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with! 🙂

I have a 13wk old puppy who had fleas used hartz flea gel from shoulder to tail last wk and it seemed to help but my daughter wanted to bathe him again because he had a weird smell on him and now two fleas have surfaced and he’s scratching and biting on himself any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Denise, you need to treat all the areas that your puppy goes for fleas. Even if you get them off of him you will still have flea eggs and larvae stages in your home. You can read more about the flea life cycle here to help you understand. I would recommend getting Wondercide for the fleas both on your puppy and to use in your house. It’s all natural and it kills fleas and the flea stages on contact. You can spray it directly on your puppy and comb right down to the skin. For your home just spray directly on bedding, furniture, carpets and flooring to kill fleas in all of it’s stages.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

I have a Dorkie (yorkie/weenie) she just turned 9weeks and Ive only seen and killed 3 fleas…..she sleeps in bed with us. If not with us in endless crying that only gets louder so we put her on up with us. I washed all her bedding, our bedding, bathed her in puppy flea/tick/lice etc wash. And she still itches yet i havent seen any today. I get really itchy thinking about fleas or any peste. I really want them OFF. We bath her everyday, I know thats not good but I get itchy just by the thought of her having fleas and sleeping with us. Is there anything that guarantees she will NOT get fleas!?
Hello Kelly, it’s possible that her skin is just getting dried out from bathing everyday, especially if your using the flea shampoo every time. In place of bathing her every day you should give Wondercide Flea and Tick Spraya try. This is an all natural product that works on contact to kill fleas and ticks along with giving your puppy protection against any new fleas. Wondercide will also give your puppy relief from itching because it will add natural oils to her skin. You just need to spray this directly to your puppies coat and brush/comb down to the skin. You can use this to spray any place that she likes to be, furniture, bedding, carpets, etc..
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

Hi,
I can’t get wondercide in Australia or dawn detergent, any alternative and effective recommendation for puppy under 8 weeks? I will be taking him home and will bath him ASAP as soon as we got inside, any suggestions of preventing my home from being infested with fleas?
Hello Natalie, you can order the Wondercide Here. It will ship internationally through USPS. This truly is the best product for puppies because it is all natural. If your puppy doesn’t have any fleas and this is just a precautionary measure use a oatmeal puppy shampoo such as Oster Oatmeal Shampoo. Then you could just rub the juice of a fresh lemon on your puppy and comb or brush through to the skin. This should help keep your puppy flea free until he/she is old enough to use a monthly topical flea medication.
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

We have a chiwawa (spelled wrong) anyway he is 11weeks old. He is a little over 3 lbs. What kind of flea stuff can we use. We do bathe him and are getting the wondercide for the house, but can I use anything we can use on him.
Hello Sally, you can use the Wondercide on your chihuahua puppy. It’s safe for puppies and kittens because it’s all natural and has absolutely no chemicals in it. Just spray it directly on your puppies coat and brush or comb through to the skin. Spray it on your hands and rub it around the ears and your puppies face. If he licks any of it you don’t need to worry about him getting sick because it is all natural.
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you with anything else 🙂

Hey, I have a 9 week old Black Labrador Retriever and he is flea full. I have washed him 6 x in a day trying to get the fleas off. When I submerge him maybe 1-2 come off.. My puppy isn’t anemic or anything but maybe less eating and more sleeping. I’m so worried about my puppy and the flea powders and sprays….yeah that don’t work 🙁 . the flea shampoos and collars don’t even work. Not even hartz works. I don’t know what else to do. Can you suggest anything to me?
Hello Maria, I wouldn’t wash him with the flea shampoo anymore if you’ve already used it that many times. It does have chemicals in them to kill the fleas and should only be used once every couple of weeks. I’d recommend Wondercide for your puppy. This is chemical free and all natural ingredients that won’t harm your pup even if he/she licks it off. Just spray it directly on the pups coat and comb/brush down to the skin. Spray it on your hands and rub around your pups ears and face. You can also use this to spray any areas that your puppy sleeps and plays to kill fleas and eggs/larvae stages of the flea.
Make sure that you also vacuum any carpets and furniture after 24 hours of spraying the Wondercide on any areas of your home and wash all bedding in hot water and dry on the highest heat setting that you can, especially any bedding your puppy uses. If you have hardwood floors or linoleum flooring be sure to mop this with the wondercide as well.
After the initial treatment to your puppy keep checking him regularly for fleas and if you see anymore just spray the wondercide right on and comb again to the skin. The fleas will die immediately. If there are anymore, which for a few weeks there most likely will be, just spray it wherever you see them around your home and on your puppy. When you aren’t seeing them on your pup anymore or around your home, you can use the Wondercide as a monthly flea treatment as a preventative measure in place of the chemical based monthly flea treatments.
Best of luck with your puppy and please let me know if I can help you with anything else 🙂

Hi, I just bought a pup yesterday that’s a little under seven weeks old. I have her a warm bath in our sink with dawn dish soap but I barely saw any in the water once we were done. The second I went through her fur with a comb I saw a lot more. I also noticed when I went to take her outside there were fleas on the bedding she’s sleeping on. Am I able to give her another bath this morning to see if I can get more of them off her? I’m squeamish when it comes to bugs like that andhate trying to pick them off her. What’s the best thing to do since she won’t sit still long enough to take a full bath
If a puppy has fleas and you pick them up or Hold them can the fleas jump from the puppy to a person? I’ve heard mixed responses to that question. I definitely don’t wanna get them if that is possible and can happen. Need to know asap. Seeing them on Her makes me feel itchy and gross.
Hello Anna, Yes, fleas can jump from your puppy to you and they will bite you just like they are doing to your puppy. You can bathe your puppy again with the dawn dish soap, but sounds like you have the beginnings of an infestation since your seeing them on the bedding your puppy sleeps on. I highly recommend using Wondercide, this is all natural and works very well to kill the fleas and all of its life stages. This can be sprayed directly on your puppies coat and combed or brushed down to the skin.
You can also use the Wondercide on your furniture, bedding, carpets and wood floors if you have them. This product doesn’t stain or contain chemicals so it is not hazardous to humans or animals. After treating your puppy for the fleas you can use this as a monthly treatment in place of harsh chemical flea products.
Be sure to vacuum all of your furniture and floors everyday until you no longer see the fleas, just as I said on the Home Flea Removal pageBest of luck with your new puppy and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask 🙂 Kimberly
I have a 8 week old chiuaua pup! And noticed a flea by his ear! Also noticed what looked like alot of dirt in that same area. Do you think this treatment will be safe for him? And how often can you do these treatments? Thank you so much for your time!☺?
Hello Mindy, the dirt is most likely flea droppings, so I’d be sure that there are probably more fleas around. You can safely use Wondercide on your puppy, just spray it directly on the puppies coat and comb/brush right down to the skin. I’ts all natural so no chemicals will cause any harm to your puppy. You can also spray this directly on anything that your puppy sleeps on or plays on. It will kill the fleas and all of it’s life cycles.
Best of luck with your new puppy and let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

Hello, i just got my yorkie puppy about a week ago and this morning when i was petting him i started to feel some roughness on his skin and when i looked at it its like small black rocks that stuck in his fur. i also saw a brown thing crawling on him. hes been sleeping with me and boyfriend ever since we got him. what should we do ? and should we not let him sleep with us until hes completely clean?? please help!
Hello Michelle, if the small black rock like things are small like salt granules it’s most likely flea dirt along with the brown thing crawling on him. If you saw that flea he most likely has more or at least flea eggs that will hatch. Yes, guinea pigs can have fleas and it’s possible that it could have been the main host of the fleas.
I have never had a guinea pig so I’ve never had to treat one for fleas so I would recommend contacting your veterinarian and ask them what the best coarse of action would be to get rid of fleas and to treat your guinea pig for them safely.
Your puppy however can easily be treated with Wondercide This an all natural product that is sprayed directly on your puppies coat and combed or brushed to the skin. You can also use this on his bedding, furniture, carpets and floors to kill any remaining fleas along with the eggs and larvae stages of the fleas.
You may want to read the page about Home Flea Removal to get a better understanding about the Flea Life Cycle and how it can spread very quickly.
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

ALSO, i have guinea pigs and my puppy sometimes interacts with them. is it possible he got the flea from the guinea pigs??
I have four week old puppy and they have fleas. I do I get real of the fleas.
Hello Carlando,
You can use Wondercideon a puppy that young. Just spray it directly on the puppies coat and brush down to the skin. This will kill the fleas and it’s life stages instantly on your puppy. You should also wash any bedding your puppy has been on in hot water and dry on high heat. Be sure to vacuum your home thoroughly also and continue doing this for a few weeks making sure to get all the fleas and it’s life stages.
Best of luck with your new puppy 🙂

I was given a puppy yesterday I think they said she was 6 weeks old.. This is my first time having a small pup so I’m really scared to harm her! I bought a flea/tick shampoo for her I HAVE NOT applied it to her yet because I read the instructions and it said not to apply if younger than 12 weeks.. I was wondering if applying a small amount of shampoo will harm her or what can I do to get rid of her fleas 🙁

Hello Brenda, No, I wouldn’t use it on her! The reason they have the warning not to use under 12 weeks is because it has chemicals in it that can harm your pup when she’s that young. I use Wondercide on all of my pets and pups to eliminate the possibility of fleas and ticks. This is all natural and safe for your pets at any age. Just spray it right on her coat and comb or brush through to the skin. For her face, just spray on your hands and rub around her face, neck and ears. This will kill fleas if she already has them and keep them along with the ticks off of her. I use this monthly on my pets and just spray it on them after their baths when their dry and I’m brushing them.
Congrats on your new puppy!! 🙂
Kimberly
Thank you so much for your fast reply Kimberly. I will take your advice and bath her with that shampoo! ?
You’re very welcome Brenda 🙂
I have an 8 week teacup poodle. We took him to the vet and asked if we could get him shampoo and they didn’t allow us. They told us to get Dawn and just clean his face. We did this but we still noticed he has fleas. What should I do? Do you know any places where I can have them be taken off for him.
Hello Daisy, being that your pup is such a small breed and also young any medicated flea shampoos aren’t safe because of the chemicals that are in them. I would recommend trying a place that grooms dogs to see if they would be willing to comb through your pup to remove the fleas. Just removing the adult fleas however will not eliminate the problem. Fleas have 4 stages, you can learn more about the stages of the flea life cycle HERE.
You can use Wondercide on your pup and your home to kill the fleas and all of its stages. This is an all natural product that will not cause any harmful effects on your pup that the chemical based products do. All you need to do is spray this directly on his coat and comb or brush down to the skin, around the face, spray the Wondercide on your hands and rub around the face and ears down to the skin, do keep it away from his eyes!
You should also spray this product in any areas that your puppy goes, including carpets and bedding. This doesn’t stain and smells very good in both the lemongrass and cedar scents. Be sure to vacuum your home thoroughly daily until you see all signs of fleas on your puppy are gone. You can continue using this in place of a chemical based monthly flea treatment on your pet, this is what I use on both my dogs and cats and haven’t had any flea problems or tick problems on my pets since and they are outside in a wooded area everyday.
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

I have 1 week old puppies that have fleas they don’t have very many but I want to so something about it before it gets worse could I use the flea shampoo on the puppies?
Hello Sophia, I wouldn’t use a flea shampoo on the puppies that young because the chemicals can be harmful to them. You can safely use Wondercide on the puppies and their mother to kill the fleas. This is a chemical free product that is safe for pets of all ages. Just spray on your hands and rub it to the skin of the pups and spray the mom as well, combing it right down to her skin. I would wash any bedding in hot water and dry on the highest heat setting to kill any flea larvae and egg stages. If you see anymore fleas around the pups or the mom, just spray the area with the Wondercide.
Best of luck with your new pups and please let me know if I can help you with anything else 🙂

Hello Kimberly,
I just got home and this poor little baby has fleas! The people had been leaving the little babies outside! I am shocked that they would do this! I read your advice and had pretty much decided to follow it. I got this little girl to give to my 9yr old Chihuahua company after having her older sister of 15 yrs put to sleep last yr. She seemed lonely without her sister and I can’t always take her with me. I read all your advice for fleas and also now am concerned about hearyworms! She is going to the vet Friday. I wondered however if there might be a cheaper alternative for the Wondercide? Sounds great
But Really don’t have a need for a gallon. I have never had a flea problem in my home. I do however think the little bed for Gabby might need a treatment because of eggs. She very tiny I want to be careful as shes had no shots or worming yet. I don’t feel like I have a choice other than to get her relief. I probably need another bit of advice for something less expensive. I’m thankful for your advice.
Thank you so much, Carol
I also tried to sign up for your newsletter and know if I will get or not ?
Hello Carol, I’m sorry that you had to put your older Chihuahua down, I’m sure that was very hard for you and your Chihuahua loosing her sister. What a wonderful idea to get her a new friend <3 Honestly the Wondercide is worth every penny because you won't need anything else after you use this initially. However you don't need to buy a gallon, you can purchase the Wondercide 16oz for $24.99. A little of this goes a long way and after the initial treatment to your pups you will see a huge difference in the fleas. Then just use it as a monthly treatment on your dogs and if you see any stray fleas, just spray right on the area you see them and comb down to the skin.
The wonderful thing about this product is that it is all natural and very effective at not only killing fleas and ticks but keeping the skin and coat healthy as well on your pets.
Best of luck with your new pup and I hope that he/she brings a lot of happiness to your 9 year old pup 🙂

Hello , so I have 5 puppies 7 weeks old they had a skin scrape so it’s not mange but they do have very little fleas , I do bathe them with dawn but the hair on one puppy just keeps coming out and he is still coyntouniosly scratching and bitig what would be your advice for this I fee based for banjo is there anything I could rub hi down with and yo get the hair to start growing back it started on his ebow and now his ears too but skin scrape had no results
Hello Emily, poor pups they’ve got to be so uncomfortable. If they have the fleas I would recommend the Wondercide Spray for them. It will kill the fleas along with moisturizing the puppies skin and hopefully allowing it to grow back. Just curious though if they’re loosing their hair could they possibly be having an allergic reaction to anything that you’ve recently washed or bought? If not, it’s highly possible that they’re having a severe allergic reaction to the fleas saliva, in which case the Wondercide should work to clear up. Just follow the directions and I’m very sure youll see a huge difference the same day…
Best of luck with your pups and please let me know if I can help any further 🙂

Hi
So i have given my puppy his first bath because i saw a flea on him. i used flea shampoo, while i was drying him i thought i saw a flea twice and i am not sure if he will be okay because youre not supposed to use the shampoo often
Hello Kat, it’s very possible you are still seeing fleas, I would use Wondercide on your puppy. This is all natural and safe to use on him as often as needed. Just spray it right on the pups coat and comb or brush to the skin. You could also spray it directly on your hands and rub it in that way if he’s really small. Be sure to clean all bedding in hot water and dry on your highest heat to kill any flea stages that are on them. You will also need to vacuum and mop all flooring and furniture to kill the fleas off. After vacuuming and cleaning the floors you can spray the Wondercide throughout your home to eliminate any traces of fleas.
Best of luck with your new puppy and please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

Well, my dog just had four puppies, they’re 6 weeks old, and my friend said if I use the shampoo I got it will kill them,is this at all true?
Hello Kenzi,
The shampoo may work but I’d use Wondercide myself. It’s an all natural product that is safe for cats and dogs of all ages, including nursing moms. Be sure to also wash all the blankets and bedding that the pups are using so that you kill all of the fleas life stages. The Wondercide should also be sprayed on the Mom and in the areas that the pups like to go.
Best of Luck and Please let me know if I can help you any further 🙂

My Puppy is 12 weeks old her vet gave her revolution for fleas, last time she had the revolution was 25 days ago and now she has fleas , I never have puppy before and have no knowledge . What can I do to get rid of the fleas?
Thank you
Hello Rana, I use Wondercide for flea protection on my cat and dog and it works tremendously well. This can also be used along with the topical flea medication that you are using, just follow the directions on the bottle. I would give your pup a bath and try to drown as many fleas as you can, not to mention just getting any flea dirt, (which is flea droppings), off of your pup.
I would also make sure that any bedding that your pup uses gets washed in hot water and dried on the hottest heat setting to kill any flea stages. Even though your pup is treated with a topical medication, you probably have flea larvae, egg and pupae stages throughout your home which can cause the fleas to come back.
You can use the wondercide on all areas of your home to kill the fleas including, spraying your couch, carpets and mopping your floors with it as well. Then just vacuum, vacuum, vacuum, everyday until you aren’t seeing anymore signs of them. You can read more about getting fleas out of your home here: House Flea Removal.
Within a week you shouldn’t be seeing any signs of the fleas but if you do, just reapply the Wondercide and spray down any areas of your home that you are seeing the fleas until you don’t anymore. It all really depends on how badly your pups fleas are to get them completely out of your house.
After the fleas are gone, I would use the wondercide monthly as a preventative measure for flea and tick control or after any baths.
I hope this helps you and if you have any other questions or concerns, please leave a message and I’ll get back to you ASAP! Best of luck with your new puppy 🙂

Organic raw Apple cider vinegar kills fleas also there’s an organic pet shampoo which is excellent for killing fleas called cedarside cedarsuds. Use the comb and make sure you treat the house too. Wash all linens in hot water. Vacuum carpets often. Spray a natural pet spray.
My 5 week old Lab/Border collie pup is being attacked by fleas, I have used a flea comb, washed his bedding, sprayed upstairs. since he never leaves my room, I have tired everything to keep him safe from the fleas, I can’t use a collar or sprays on him cuz hes to young yet. Any suggestions????
Hi Samantha, I would you wondercide personally. It’s safe for him and you because it’s all natural. It’s what I use on my own pets and have never had any problems what so ever no matter the age of my cats or pups. Just follow the directions on the bottle for puppies and you can use the same product that you buy for your puppy on his bedding around your home and anywhere he likes to go. Continue to use the flea comb to get rid of the dead fleas and after a couple days definitely bathe him to get rid of the flea dirt and anything dead in his fur. If you start noticing that he’s not eating or drinking, call your vet immediately because that’s a sign that he’s becoming lethargic and that’s not good. Here’s a link to Wondercide.com where you can learn more about the product…
I hope your pup starts to feel better and let me know if I can help you any further!
